TRIED & TESTED: L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment

Truth be told, I usually only review skincare and make-up on here because my hair seems kinda unbothered by products – it will be thin and straight despite whatever I throw at it. But when there’s beauty buzz that there’s a new must-try hair product in town, I happily oblige. Here’s my first impression of theL’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment.

Have you met the L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment? If you stay in the loop on the latest beauty news, you probably have. If you’re someone that spots new products directly in the beauty aisles, you probably haven’t yet – since this is 1) not available everywhere yet and 2) sold out where it is available. Amongst others, you have the Fat Mascara ladies to thank for that.

The L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment promises silkier, shinier and healthier looking hair in just 8 seconds. It’s a rinse-out liquid treatment that uses lamellar technology to revive and replenish your thirsty strands. The liquid formula should be applied directly onto wet hair, massaged in for (a minimum of) 8 seconds and rinsed out thoroughly. You can choose to follow up with your normal conditioning routine.

So that’s what I did. I washed my hair with my usual Function of Beauty shampoo and followed up with the L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment. The bottle indicates you should use about 20 ml to coat the lengths of your hair. Since I have very fine hair that gets easily overwhelmed (read: greasy) by conditioning products, I opted for about 15 ml. The products feels watery and smells very tropical.

I worked this into my wet hair and left it on for a minute (because tbh the name may suggest this is a wonder but I don’t believe in 8-second magic) before I rinsed it out. I followed up with my usual Function of Beauty conditioner. I read in reviews that this already made hair feel silky smooth whilst in the shower. Some people also said it made their tangles melt away. Since I’m overdue for a haircut, my hair is dry and tangles super quickly. This didn’t do instant detangling, but it did leave my hair feeling softer than usual.

Afterwards, I still needed a detangling spray and a Tangle Teezer to get out the biggest tangles. I roughly blow-dried my hair with my beloved Dyson Supersonic and went about my day – leaving my hair to air dry.

Did the L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment leave my hair softer, shinier and silkier? Yes, on all of the above. I’m not sure if it made a noticeable difference for others, but I felt the silky smoothness when I ran my fingers through it – even though the ends of my hair were pretty badly damaged. Do I think this is a need-to-have product? For my hair type, no – I can manage without, but it’s definitely nice to have. I will continue to use it whenever my hair needs a boost and I’m going somewhere that I want to look my absolute best.

Since I couldn’t yet get my hands on the L’Oréal Elvive 8 Second Wonder Water Lamellar Hair Treatment anywhere locally, I ordered two bottles from a Swedish beauty webshop for € 8,23 each. It is already available in the U.S. and U.K – but often sold out. If you live in Belgium like me, this one is expected to hit the shelves in May. Keep your eyes peeled and let me know if it works for you!

Until next time,

Martine
