Do you know that feeling when you see something and you instantly need to have it? What am I saying – you’re reading a beauty blog – this probably comes naturally to you. When I saw Poppy Deyes raving about this one, I knew it was something I needed to try. Introducing The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel.
Quite a mouthful, this The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel. In short, it’s a gentle exfoliant that lifts dead skin and peels impurities from your skin. The gel-to-peel formula is infused with three plant stem cells (edelweiss from the Italian Alps – can you say ‘fancy’?) and promises to leave skin feeling fresh and looking smooth, luminous and youthful.
The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel comes in a convenient pump bottle. The products itself looks green but is colourless once applied to the face.
The cool thing about this is that you apply it on a clean face and massage it in – allowing the gel to catch all dead skin and residuals (‘ello, gross) and quickly seeing it transform into little white rolls. It’s fascinating, really. I’ve never seen anything like it.
But does it work? To be honest, I’m a little underwhelmed. Since I’ve read many positive reviews, I thought this would be a miracle worker. I like the special effect, but it’s anything but effective. I do believe that it’s a gentle peel – but it might be too gentle for me. It leaves my skin feeling soft, but not looking smooth/luminous/radiant in any way.
On top of that, this is probably the worst product I’ve ever tried rinse-wise. It just doesn’t come off easily using only water – which is what it says to do. I end up having to follow up with a facial wash and tbh it just stops me from using this product on a regular basis.
Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel is available at The Body Shop for € 21/£ 18,50 (145 ml).
