I like my perfumes, but I find that they’re one of the hardest things to write about. Since you’re not getting a lot of information from “It smells good!!”, I need to think of other ways to tell you why I choose to wear a certain scent on a regular basis. Here goes.
I’m always happy to see one of these boxes. Jo Malone is such a classy brand that it already feels like a luxury experience even before you’ve seen what’s inside. Let’s have a peek.
I got gifted this set for my birthday – maybe last year? (Slow blogger alert) I haven’t tried the Lime Basil & Mandarin candle yet, because I always feel like saving candles like these for a special occasion. But the Poppy & Barley Cologne, I tried right away.
Jo Malone’s Poppy & Barley Cologne is described by the brand as “iconic, vibrant poppies. Dancing in colour across England’s meadows. A lively floral scent, enhanced by rose and violet and topped with juicy blackcurrants. Borrowed from the succulent cereal fields, where grains and flowers mingle, our poppies are cocooned by bran and cotton-soft barley.” The scent is a story in itself.
I love this one. While I haven’t tried anything with poppies before, I do like my florals so I felt like it would be match. I also feel like it works really well on my skin. The scent lingers and just generally makes me feel fancy throughout the day.
There’s something about this packaging that got me hooked from the first spritz, too. It’s elegant yet not overly polished and it stands out in my perfume collection. Unfortunately, the bottle is limited edition. The scent, however, is not, so if you want to get your hands on this one, it is still available in the usual Jo Malone glass bottles.
Jo Malone Poppy & Barley Cologne retails for € 57 (30 ml) and € 115 (100 ml). I know that for some people it’s too early to be talking Christmas lists, but if you’re on the lookout – this would be perfect for under the tree.
